Wedding Websites

Wedding Websites are a great tool for communicating wedding information to your guests, from hotels where you have rooms blocked to the link to your gift registry and a number of other fun wedding details. There are lots of places where you can create free sites such as through The Knot or Minted or you can choose a more personalized approach and pay for a website through a site like Squarespace (did you know that if you are working with me in our Destination Upstate package that I will build you a website as a link on my site?). Whichever direction you choose to go here is an outline of the items you may want to have included on your site:

The location, date, and time of your wedding. You want people to know where they will be going to celebrate with you!

Information for guests who are traveling in for your wedding, including hotel room block details. This way your guests can make their reservations on your hotel room block and start to map our their travel plans.

Shuttle schedule including pick up times and locations. If you don’t know all of this info when you first create your site add “More Info Coming Soon” or “Check Back For Complete Schedule” and then add the shuttle details in when you book your transportation vendor.

Gift Registry details. This is helpful for guests who wish to purchase a gift for you to give at your bridal shower or wedding. I always recommend that my couples complete their gift registries before their bridal shower invitations are sent out.

A few optional extras to include on your site:

Photos and background information about you two! Some guests may only know one of you and it’s nice to introduce yourself to the guests coming from the other side of the family. Some couples choose to post photos and details about the engagement to give their guests a sneak peek into how their wedding journey started.

A lineup of the bridal party. This can be done with photos or without, but it’s a nice way to give some attention to your VIPs while giving your guests a chance to see who will be standing by your side on your wedding day.

Local details and activities. This is especially helpful for guests who will be traveling to your wedding and will have some down time before or after your wedding day. Give some suggestions of local landmarks they should check out or hot spots they can visit that have meaning to the two of you.

When should you complete your wedding website? I recommend having it established before you send out your save the dates. That way you can include your wedding website on your save the date card or as an enclosure card if your save the date is a magnet.
